Make the switch to raw food simple with the Pure Gene Raw Food Starter Kit — a structured 14-day plan designed to gradually introduce your cat to raw feeding.
The kit includes 42 individually numbered cups, providing 3 meals per day for 14 days. The amount of raw food gradually increases throughout the plan while you reduce your cat’s usual wet food, until your cat reaches a fully raw meal.
Made with chicken and beef, the Starter Kit takes the guesswork out of transitioning and gives your cat’s digestive system time to adjust gradually before introducing other proteins.
Your Starter Kit includes 42 individually numbered cups — 3 meals per day for 14 days.
Every raw portion follows Pure Gene’s complete 80/10/10 raw formula: 80% muscle meat, 10% organs and 10% ground bone, providing a naturally balanced combination of protein, essential nutrients, calcium and phosphorus.
The Starter Kit uses chicken and beef, keeping the protein selection simple during the transition before introducing additional meats.
Each cup is clearly numbered by day and meal, so there’s no measuring or guessing — simply follow the numbers and gradually reduce the amount of wet food as the raw portion increases.
How to Use the Starter Kit
Keep your cat’s usual total meal size the same throughout the transition.
Each numbered cup contains a gradually increasing amount of raw food. Simply add your cat’s usual wet food to make up the remainder of their normal meal.
For example:
7g raw → add wet food to complete the usual meal
45g raw → add 55g wet food for a 100g meal
100g raw → serve the raw meal on its own
This allows the raw portion to increase gradually while the wet food decreases.
The Transition Phases
The raw food amount gradually increases through 7 stages:
Phase 1: 7g
Phase 2: 15g
Phase 3: 30g
Phase 4: 45g
Phase 5: 60g
Phase 6: 80g
Final Phase: 100g raw food
Keep all meals frozen immediately after receiving your Starter Kit.
Every evening, move the following day’s three meals from the freezer to the refrigerator and allow them to thaw overnight. Do not refreeze after thawing.
Serve directly from the refrigerator, or leave the meal covered for 10–15 minutes before serving.
Meals can be stored for up to 6 months frozen or 3 days refrigerated. Once served, the meal should be eaten within 30 minutes.
If vomiting or diarrhea occurs, pause the transition for 24–48 hours and make sure fresh water is always available.
Once your cat improves, go back one step in the transition or reduce the raw portion by half, then offer smaller, more frequent meals for 2–3 days.
Contact your veterinarian if symptoms continue, if you notice lethargy or blood in the stool, or if your cat stops eating for more than 24 hours.
Once your cat has fully transitioned, you can begin introducing other proteins.
Start with:
25% new protein + 75% familiar food for 2 days
50% / 50% for another 2–3 days
75% new + 25% familiar for 2 days
Then move to 100% of the new protein.
We recommend rotating protein sources every 2–3 weeks for variety.
